A man has been arrested and a woman in her 50s hospitalised following an alleged stabbing incident.
Residents of a Rosslare Harbour Housing estate awoke to a strong Garda presence on Friday morning as they responded to an apparent stabbing incident.
A woman aged in her 50s was rushed to Wexford General Hospital with what gardaí described as "serious injuries "shortly after 7am.
Following the reporting of the incident, there was a strong Garda presence in the area, while paramedics from the National Ambulance Service also rushed to the scene at Brendan's Estate.
As workers made their way to work, they were shocked at the presence of so many gardaí and paramedics in what has been described as a quiet housing estate in the village.
Gardai arrested a man in his 20s at the scene.
He was brought to Wexford Garda Station for questioning.
Gardaí say investigations are continuing.
