Ticketmaster has issued a warning to the public about a fake ticket salesman scamming buyers out of money.

The ticket sales and distribution company stated that the seller, based in Dublin, is promoting last minute tickets to concerts and sporting events.

As part of the scam, the buyer purchases the fake tickets in advance and is then supposed to collect them at the venue where the scammer never shows.

It has been reported that some fans have already lost large sums of money to the scam.

In a statement the company said: "Ticketmaster always advises fans to only buy tickets from official sources and never from strangers on social media.

"Anyone who has been scammed purchasing tickets from an unofficial site, social media or an individual claiming to represent Ticketmaster should report it to An Garda Síochána, who have the authority to investigate and deal with the matter."
