Three teenagers arrested after attempted car theft in Blanchardstown

Three teenage males were arrested and detained at a garda station in the Dublin region.

Gardaí have arrested three teenagers after they attempted to steal a car in the early hours of Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Blanchardstown, Dublin, at around 2.15am after a member of the public reported that a group of individuals were trying to interfere with a parked vehicle outside a complex on Snugborough Road.

Gardaí arrived at the scene a short time later and intercepted a car matching the reported description, which was attempting to exit the area.

Three teenage males were arrested and detained at a garda station in the Dublin region.

Two of the arrested males, who are adults in their late teens, have since been charged and are expected to appear before Blanchardstown District Court at a later date.

The third arrested male, a juvenile, has been released pending a referral to the Garda Youth Diversion Programme.

The vehicle was removed from the scene for technical examination by gardaí.

Investigations are ongoing, a spokesperson confirmed
