Man, 20s, dies following three-car collision in Galway

A man aged in his 20s has died following a three-car collision in Galway on Sunday night.

He was the driver of one of the cars in the incident that occurred on the R336 in Barna at approximately 11.25pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed from the scene to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where an autopsy is due to take place.

There were no other injuries reported, gardaí confirmed.

The R336 was closed on Monday morning between Barna and Furbo to allow forensic collision investigators to examine the scene.

Motorists are being encouraged to travel on the N59 road as local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to witnesses with relevant footage from the area around the time to come forward.
