Disqualified driver caught while eight times over legal drink-drive limit

Gardaí in Co Donegal were shocked after discovering a drunk-driver was eight times over the legal limit.

The driver was stopped by the Letterkenny Roads Policing while they were out on patrol yesterday.

The driver was stopped by Gardai on suspicion of drink driving.

However, when his details were checked, Gardai discovered the driver was also disqualified from driving.

The car was seized as the car was not insured.

A garda spokesperson revealed gardaí were shocked to find the man was eight times over the drink-drive limit when he was processed back at the local garda station.

A garda spokesperson added: “A further test conducted back at the station established that the driver was eight times over the legal limit. Court proceedings will follow.

“Never drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Slow down and drive safely this bank holiday weekend and always.”
