Motorcyclist, 40s, dies following collision with car in Co Wexford

The road is currently closed for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators, and diversions are in place.

A man aged in his 40s has died following a two-vehicle crash in Castlebridge, Co Wexford on Wednesday.

The crash, involving a motorcycle and a car, occurred on the R742 at Johnstown at around 9.20am.

The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, a woman aged in her 60s, was taken to Wexford General Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life threatening at this time.

No other injuries have been reported.

The road is currently closed for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators, and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area between 8.30am and 9.30am this morning, Wednesday 15th January 2025, to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Wexford Garda Station on (053) 916 5200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
