Man, 60s, dies after jeep collides with electricity pole in Dublin

A man, aged in his 60s, has died following a crash in Dublin on Thursday night.

The single-vehicle collision occurred on East Wall Road when a jeep collided with an electricity pole at approximately 11.55pm.

The driver and sole occupant of the jeep was transferred to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

No other injuries were reported, gardaí said.

The East Wall Road is currently closed between North Strand Road and Alfie Byrne Road to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators this morning. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
