Twin pregnancies pose a higher risk of perinatal mortality among younger mothers
Specialised care for twin pregnancies is not available in all of the country’s maternity units.
Twin pregnancies in Ireland pose a higher risk of perinatal mortality particularly among younger mothers and underweight mothers, according to new research.
A study by researchers at University College Cork (UCC) also found that a considerable proportion of twin deaths with either major congenital anomalies or born preterm occurred in non-tertiary hospitals.
