RTB wants new powers to inspect properties to crack down on unregistered landlords
The RTB confirmed it was looking to strengthen its enforcement and increase its capacity to identify unregistered tenancies.
The rental watchdog may seek new powers to inspect properties where they believe a landlord has not registered a tenancy as part of a crackdown on rule-breaking in the sector.
The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) said its current powers only permit it to inspect a property where there has been an application made to register it as a private rental, or after it has commenced an investigation.
