Violence preventable with right supports, Oireachtas committee told

Social conditions can be a driver for crime, said Dr Sharon Lambert.

Violence is preventable with the right supports and should not only be viewed as punishable, the Oireachtas justice committee has heard.

Internationally, violence is now being understood as a public health issue that requires a public health response, Sharon Lambert, a senior lecturer at the School of Applied Psychology, University College Cork, told the committee.
