Motorcyclist killed in Dublin crash marks 101st road death in 2024

A male motorcyclist, aged in his 30s, has died following a single-vehicle crash in Dublin.

The crash occurred at Constitution Hill in Dublin 7 at around 2:20am on Thursday.

The male driver of the motorcycle was taken to the Mater Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The outbound lane of the road is currently closed for technical examination by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on Constitution Hill, Dublin 7, between 1.30am and 2.30am this morning, Thursday 11th July 2024, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Bridewell Garda Station on 01 666 8200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."

So far in 2024, 101 people have lost their lives on Irish roads, 14 more than recorded this time last year.
