Arrest after man, 50s, dies following assault in Finglas

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal assault in the early hours of Thursday morning in Dublin.
Gardaí attended the scene of the incident at around 12.30am on Hampton Wood Way on St Margaret's Road in Finglas.
A man in his 50s was found with serious injuries. He was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The scene of the incident is currently preserved for a technical examination to be carried out.
A garda spokesperson said the offices of the State Pathologist have been informed and an autopsy is due to take place later on Thursday at Dublin City Mortuary.
A man in his 30s has been arrested as part of the investigation and is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
"An investigation is ongoing," the spokesperson added.
