Man injured following 'serious assault' in Dublin

Gardaí at Pearse Street are appealing for witnesses.

A man in his 20s has been seriously injured following an assault on Mercer St in Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the "serious assault" which occurred at around 2.20pm on Tuesday.

The injured man was taken to St James's Hospital and his injuries are described as "serious but non-life-threatening".

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and are calling on anyone who was in the Mercer St area at the time of the incident to contact them.

Road users with camera footage, including dash cam, are urged to share these recordings with gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Pearse Street Garda Station at 01 666 9000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any Garda station," they added.

While no arrests have been made to date, gardaí are following definite lines of enquiry.

"Investigations are ongoing," a spokesperson said.
