Man, 30s, killed in single-vehicle crash in Offaly

A man in his 30s has died in a single-vehicle crash in Co Offaly. 

Gardaí in Tullamore are appealing for witnesses to the accident which happened at around 11pm on Monday at Bracknagh near Clonbologue in Edenderry.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

A garda spokesperson said the local coroner has been notified, and the deceased has been removed to the mortuary at Tullamore Hospital where an autopsy will take place in due course. 

Garda forensic collision investigators are scheduled to examine the crash site on Tuesday morning, and local diversions have been put in place.

Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with video footage - including dashcam -or recordings from along the route at the time of the collision has been asked to come forward.

The crash in Edenderry was the second fatal collision on Irish roads on Monday after a motorcyclist in his 50s died following an incident in Wicklow yesterday afternoon. 

At around 12.30pm, gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of what they described a "fatal incident" involving the motorcyclist at Turlough Hill.

No further information on the nature of the collision was given.
