Two arrested following seizure of sub-machine gun, silencer and ammunition in Dublin

Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team carried out a search operation in Clondalkin on Wednesday evening.

A man and a woman have been arrested after a sub-machine gun, a silencer and ammunition were seized in Dublin.

Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team carried out a search operation in Clondalkin on Wednesday evening.

During the course of the search, a Skorpion sub-machine gun, a silencer and ammunition were seized. 

A man and a woman both aged in their 30s were arrested in relation to possession of firearms. 

They are currently being detained under the provisions of pursuant to the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939/98, at Garda Stations in Dublin.

A garda spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing.
