Offshore islands could be 'guiding light' for rural Ireland — report

Sherkin Island: It is hoped the recommendations of the report will 'assist islanders to live and live well on the offshore islands long into the future'.

Ireland's offshore islands have the "potential to be a guiding light for the future of rural life" — if there is further investment in the right areas, a new report has claimed.

Sherkin, Dursey and Whiddy islands are part of the more than 80 offshore islands around the country that fall under the remit of the Oireachtas committee for social protection, rural and community development, and the islands.
