Irish pensioners prescribed medications at one of the highest rates in the OECD

Health minister Stephen Donnelly said the report reflects on care across a 10-year period.

Pensioners in Ireland are prescribed benzodiazepines such as valium at one of the highest rates in the OECD, topped only by Iceland, a new report shows.  

Within Ireland, the region with the highest rate of these prescriptions is the South Lee area of Cork which includes Ballyphehane, Douglas and Kinsale.
