Gardaí have launched an appeal as they try to reunite an unusual personal item with its owner.

A silver urn was handed into Bray Garda Station after it was found by a member of the public.

The urn has the word 'Dad' inscribed on the front and a date from 2019 is also written on it.

It was found on Sunday, March 24.

Gardaí have issued a photo of the item in the hope that the owner or someone close to them will recognise it.

"Gardaí are hoping to reunite it with the person who lost it as clearly it is of significant sentimental importance," the appeal said.

The photo has been posted on social media and the public are encouraged to share it far and wide.

Anyone who does recognise it or who may know someone who has lost an urn is asked to contact Bray Garda Station on 01 666 5300.
