Nearly 40% of consumers report negative experiences concerning purchases

The two most problematic sectors for Irish consumers are home products and tools, and telecommunications.

Close to €1bn was lost to Irish consumers resulting from issues experienced with goods and services, a new survey has claimed.

The report, carried out by consumer watchdog the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), saw more than 4,500 people discuss the issues that had cost them money or caused them stress in the previous 12 months when buying products or services.
