A redundancy package for RTÉ’s former chief financial officer was agreed on the basis that €200,000 a year would be saved — a saving which never materialised.

Breda O’Keeffe applied directly to former director general Dee Forbes under RTÉ’s 2017 voluntary redundancy scheme, with a business case suggesting promoting a highly thought-of internal candidate as a successor would lead to €200,000 savings, on the back of a restructuring of the broadcaster’s finance department.
