'As Darragh Did': Fundraising walk launched in memory of McGinley children
Walking the Walk aims to raise vital funds for community groups and organisations across Ireland in memory of seven-year-old Darragh.
A charity launched after a man's three children were killed has announced a new fundraising event in their memory.
Andrew McGinley’s three children — Conor, 9, Darragh, 7, and Carla, 3 — were killed by their mother, Deirdre Morley, at their home in Newcastle, Dublin, when she was suffering a psychotic and depressive episode on January 24, 2020.
Ms Morley, a nurse, was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity. Mr McGinley has since set up projects in his children’s names which reflect their personalities and aspirations.
One of those — As Darragh Did — has announced the first 'Walking the Walk' event, which will take place on April 20 and 21.
It aims to raise vital funds for community groups and organisations across Ireland in memory of the seven-year-old.

The event will incorporate a 60km walk along the Royal Canal, commencing in Mullingar, Co Westmeath, on April 20 and concluding in Maynooth, Co Kildare, on April 21.
Participants are welcome to complete the full walk, a portion of the walk, or a walk in their local community to mark the occasion.
Mr McGinley is urging the public to get behind the initiative, saying: “Darragh always said, if you want to talk the talk, you need to walk the walk.
"This event has been something I’ve wanted to do to for a while, celebrating Darragh, Conor and Carla. I hope you will join me in honouring their memory by taking part in any way you can.
Walking with me for all 60km, or just a portion of the journey, to raise funds for As Darragh Did and the amazing groups we support across Ireland."
Individuals or groups wanting in taking part can register their interest at asdarraghdid.ie.
