Ireland bottom in Europe for using renewable energy

Natural gas and wind dominate the generation of electricity, the Central Statistics Office said. 

Ireland remains the laggard in Europe when it comes to the share of energy coming from renewables.

Across Europe, 23% of the energy consumed comes from renewables, but Ireland is bottom of the pile at just 13% along with Malta, way behind the major renewables generators of Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Denmark, and Estonia.
