Sligo crash brings road deaths to 155 — same total as the whole of 2022

The road where Wednesday's crash took place is currently closed to traffic. 

A man's death in Sligo in a crash involving an e-scooter and a van on Wednesday night means the same number of people have died on the country's roads in 2023 so far as in the whole of last year.

The man in his 50s had been travelling on the e-scooter which collided with the van at 8.10pm last night in the townland of Rusheen in Riverstown.
