Children's hospital 92% done with completion expected in October 2024, PAC to hear

David Gunning is expected to tell the committee on Thursday morning that the controversial hospital is now 92% complete, with the last tower crane for the project to be removed from the construction site on the campus of St James’s Hospital in Dublin by the end of October.

Ireland’s National Children’s Hospital, one of the most expensive infrastructure projects in the history of the State, is set for substantial completion in late October of 2024.

The chief officer of the National Paediatric Health Development Board (NPHDB), David Gunning, is set to tell the Public Accounts Committee that the most up-to-date delivery timeline for the hospital is October 29 of next year, with all of the board’s efforts “focused on getting certainty on this date”.
