A live, wriggling worm which was found in a woman’s brain in Australia last year in a world-first phenomenon was described by an infectious diseases physician on Tuesday (August 29) as something he "never expected".
The patient was first admitted to hospital at the start of 2021 following abdominal pain, fever and coughing, before being referred to Canberra Hospital the following year when she started experiencing memory loss and depression.
