Government plans for fuel rationing are a fire drill, says fuel industry chief

The shortage of gas supplies was the biggest threat to most countries in Europe, Kevin McPartland said. This could mean a switch to oil for power generation.

The Government's emergency energy group is due to meet to discuss the worst-case scenarios of low fuel.

The group will formulate contingency plans in the event of fuel shortages this winter.
