Pressure to make profit risks tearing farm families apart 

According to CSO figures 25 farmers die by suicide annually but the figure may in fact be higher.

Debt-burdened farming families risk being torn apart as overworked farmers have become “addicted to their cows” and are neglecting their wives and children, industry experts have warned.

Pat McCormack of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) said farming marriages are suffering as farmers come under increasing pressure to try to make any profit.
