Women urged to attend cervical check appointments as HPV vaccine success proven in new study

HPV vaccine sees cervical cancer rates cut by almost 90% in women who had it, new study shows.

The director of public health at the National Immunisation Office, Dr Lucy Jessop, has called on any women who deferred their cervical check examination because of Covid-19 to come forward for an appointment.

Dr Jessop was commenting following a report from the UK, which indicated an almost 90% reduction in cervical cancer since the introduction of HPV vaccines.
