Irish Donor Network concerned with 'significant decline' in organ donation

The largest decreases in transplants were noted in lung (-58.2%), heart (-42%), liver (-44.9%), and kidney programmes (-21.3%).

The Irish Donor Network (IDN) has said it is concerned about the marked decline in organ donation and transplant rates in Ireland between 2019 and 2020.

There was a 32.1% decline in solid organ transplantations in Ireland in 2020 when compared with 2019 figures, and a 27.1% drop in deceased organ donations.
