Driving test waiting lists a 'direct road safety risk'

Modelling by the RSA warned waiting times for tests could rise above a year without a significant increase in testing staff.

Growing waiting lists for driving tests represented a ā€œdirect road safety riskā€ and would undermine efforts to tackle drivers who rely on multiple learner permits to stay on the road.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) also warned of ā€œreputational riskā€ for itself and the Department of Transport and a credibility hit to its road safety efforts because of the delays.
