Monaghan girl in critical condition after accident

A one-year-old girl is in a critical condition in Temple Street Children's Hospital. 

She was found in an ornamental water feature in Co Monaghan.

The discovery was made at a property in the Castleblayney area around 1pm this afternoon.

The toddler - who is believed to have fallen into the water, was removed by air ambulance to the Dublin hospital.

According to a statement from the Gardaí, an investigation was underway. 

However the incident is now being treated as a tragic accident.
