Increased herd size linked to higher rate of bovine TB

Cork North had highest number of positive tests for bovine disease.

An increase in the size of the national dairy herd in recent years is considered a likely factor in the number of herds infected with bovine TB reaching a six-year peak in 2019.

Department of Agriculture figures show 4,060 herds were infected with the disease last year.
