The head of security of the horse racing regulatory body, the Turf Club, claims he was defamed in a letter about his role in an inspection of the yard of horse trainer Liz Doyle, a daughter of former FG MEP Avril Doyle, who was also present during the inspection.

Chris Gordon (aged 60) is suing the Irish Race Horse Trainers Association (IRTA) over a letter to a senior steward of the Turf Club in which he says it was falsely alleged he attempted to entrap Ms Doyle junior into an admission of wrongdoing.
