Gove: No-deal Brexit would lead to direct rule in Northern Ireland

Direct rule would need to be introduced in Northern Ireland in the event of a no-deal Brexit, the British Government has confirmed.
There has not been a fully-functioning devolved assembly or executive in Northern Ireland since the Democratic Unionist Party and Sinn Fein failed to agree to the terms of a power-sharing agreement between following a snap election that was called in January 2017.
