On-duty firefighter arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence

A firefighter in Kilkenny has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence while on duty.

The man was driving a fire truck on the Callan Road before approaching a checkpoint at around 12.30am on Sunday morning.

Gardaí said a fixed charge penalty notice will be issued in relation to the incident.
