Rent pressure zones extended until end of 2021

Rent pressure zones will be extended until the end of 2021 with the qualification outside of Dublin to be tweaked.

Cabinet Ministers agreed to the proposals this morning.

Rent can only be increased by 4% a year in rent pressure zones.

The legislation keeping them in place was due to expire at the end of the year.

Tánaiste Simon Coveney said that the government made a decision to change how the qualification criteria for Rent Pressure Zones are calculated to separate Dublin from the rest of the country "because rents are so much higher in Dublin".
