The figures, compiled by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government, include direct builds by local authorities, homes built by approved housing bodies (AHBs) and social houses built as part of private schemes under Part V of the Planning and Development Act, which determines up to 10% of a private development must be made available for social housing.
