The all-clear has been given after a pipe bomb exploded in north Dublin.

GardaĂ­ alerted the Army Bomb Disposal Team which was called to the scene in Coolock at 6.15pm yesterday.

It was sealed off for public safety while the squad carried out a post-blast analysis.

It was declared safe just before 8pm last night.

Meanwhile, a viable pipe-bomb has been made safe following a suspicious discovery in Co Louth in the early hours of this morning.

GardaĂ­ called on the Army Bomb Disposal Team to investigate the device in Drogheda at 2.45am.

A number of houses were evacuated and the scene was declared safe at 4.20am.
