Prisoner who alleged convicted ex-garda asked to be assaulted loses appeal
A prisoner who claimed that another prisoner, a former garda, asked to be assaulted in an effort to be transferred to an open prison has lost, by a three to two Supreme Court majority, his appeal over his conviction for causing harm.
Gerard Brown was convicted in October 2015, and jailed for three years, consecutive to his existing sentence, of causing harm to Stephen Cooper at the Midlands Prison, Portlaoise, on May 20 2014.
