Bales held like ‘baby in mother’s chest’

A farmer has been fined for failing to properly secure a load of silage bales in an incident described by a judge as “a shocker”.

James Cullinane, a 58-year-old farmer from Derry House near Rosscarbery in Co Cork, had defended the way the 14 bales were packed last year, claiming they were “like a baby in a mother’s chest”.
