Catholics in Northern Ireland were left disappointed when the details of the Pope’s visit revealed he was not going to travel north.

Pope Francis says the people of Northern Ireland are in his thoughts and prayers.

The Pontiff made the comment during a visit to the Knock Shrine in Co Mayo.
