Around a dozen families left homeless after the Metro hotel and apartment building fire in Dublin are planning to arrive at the City Council's homeless offices this afternoon without an appointment.

Update 7.55pm: The Dublin Region Homeless Executive says emergency accommodation will be provided for families left homeless after the Metro Hotel and apartment fire, who presented to its service today.

It says it is due to the extenuating and difficult circumstances they have found themselves in, pending an assessment of their homeless applications.
