Westmeath woman and donor mother celebrate kidney transplant 40 years ago

A businesswoman from Mullingar in Co Westmeath is celebrating the 40th anniversary of her life-saving kidney transplant along with her donor mother.

It is 40 years since the establishment of the Irish Kidney Association and kidney donor card in 1978, the same year an nine-year-old girl called Edel O'Brien underwent the kidney transplant.
