Garda can't pursue compensation claim over fingernail injury

A Garda left with a disfigured fingernail after a patrol car door slammed on the little finger of his left hand while he was restraining a drunk and violent man will not now be able to pursue a compensation claim, writes Ann O'Loughlin.

Garda Noel Callan today lost his High Court challenge to a refusal of the Minister for Justice to allow him to take a compensation claim to court.
