Michael Healy Rae compares Kerry roads to those in war zones
Some rural routes are being compared to roads in war zones.
A new report has shown that two-thirds of our routes were found to be damaged in 2016 but council spending on repairs decreased that year.
Independent Kerry TD Michael Healy Rae says the report shows that major investment is needed.
"We have roads in our county would be only comparable to roads in war-torn countries because some of our roads that are built on bogs and had serious lack of investment over the years and they are in an awful state," said Mr Healy Rae.
"Trying to travel these roads on a daily basis, you'd be put off the road with the uneven surface."
