Important to remember deceased children at Christmas says parents

Bereaved parents say it is important to remember the children they have lost at Christmas.

The First Light charity held a remembrance event earlier and published a range of strategies to help parents cope.

These include buying a present and donating it to a child in need, hanging a special Christmas decoration and lighting a candle.

Steve Cash lost his son Brandon last Christmas.

He has been selling candles in Dublin’s Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre to raise money for First Light

He said: "We’ve been here for around five weeks and we’ve been selling candles which we launched with First Light in honour of Brandon.

"We’ve just been managing to touch people and talk to people every day and hear their stories and reach out to them."
