Man who beat victim to death at Dublin apartment jailed

A recovering alcoholic who beat a man to death following a drunken row at an apartment in Dublin has been jailed for five years.

Gary Walsh from Ravensdale Park in Kimmage in Dublin admitted killing 62-year-old Cathal Sweeney in February 2014.

Two juries failed to reach agreement on whether he was guilty of murder before the DPP accepted his plea to the lesser charge of manslaughter.
