Manslaughter charge for woman who killed her boyfriend
A woman has been found guilty of killing her boyfriend in Dublin.
46-year-old Norma Philips stabbed Stefan Neanu once in the chest at her home at Phibsboro Road, Dublin 7 in April 2015.
When GardaĂ arrived at her apartment on the night of April 11th 2015, Norma Philips was said to be in a âdistressed stateâ.
Her boyfriend Stefan Neanu was lying on her bed but was able to get up and walk outside with paramedics. He died in hospital a few hours later.
A post mortem established heâd been stabbed in the chest and the blade had pierced his heart. A knife with his blood on it was found inside the flat.
When asked what happened, Ms. Philips initially told GardaĂ heâd been attacked by an intruder but later said sheâd acted in self-defence.
Following seven hours of deliberations, the jury cleared her of murder this afternoon but found her guilty of manslaughter.
Ms. Philips gave out an initial sigh of relief when she realised sheâd been acquitted of the murder charge and began to cry afterwards.
Sheâs due back in court next Monday for her sentence hearing.
