A petrol station in Co. Kildare has been robbed by two men said to be armed with a hammer and a knife.

A petrol station in Co. Kildare has been robbed by two men said to be armed with a hammer and a knife.

The petrol station shop in Clane Co. Kildare, was robbed at about 8.30pm last night.

Gardaí said that two men entered the forecourt of the petrol station in a stolen yellow Skoda Citigo car before going into the shop.

One man stood at the door keeping a look out armed with what appeared to be a knife.

The second man went to the counter, threatened two female staff with a hammer and left with a quantity of cash.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

The car used in the robbery was a 141 D registration Skoda Citigo which was stolen on December 1 in Balbriggan, Co. Dublin.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information about the incident or who saw the car between December 1 and 11 to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884300.
