Drivers are being urged to exercise caution tonight as temperatures are set to plummet.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Warning with temperatures of minus three expected in some areas overnight.

The warning is in effect for Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal, and it is expected to cause difficulty on several routes tonight.

There is also a Status Orange Fog Warning for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal tonight and tomorrow morning.

Widespread, dense fog is expected overnight in much of Connacht and Ulster, with some freezing fog in places.
